Monday, May 19 Notre Dame Tower & Arc de Triomphe

First order of business, fresh baked goods. délicieux!

We are really fortunate to have good weather so far. However, The forecast is calling for precipitation the next couple of days. So I had to reschedule the plan a little. ( who's a control freak?) Notre-dame is pretty much located smack in the middle of the city of Paris. It's such a massive church it be best viewed from a distance or from the towers at the top.

Gary & I waited in line before the towers opened for an hour to ascend 422 steps to the top. Luckily I'm sort of an outdoors gal and Gary's carrying the heavy camera equipment :)

The construction began in the 12th century and continued for two hundred years. The cathedral was badly damaged during the revolution but extensive work begun in 1844. The famous gargoyles are still over looking Paris.

We made it and still breathing!

Yip we're in the subway. Can someone tell Gary to stop taking pictures of .......?

The Arc de Triomphe is under restoration at the top :( but still magnificent from below. Work began in 1806 by orders from Napoleon I to honor the victories of his Grande Armee.

Ha caught him doing his photo thing!

Time to catch up on my email ...

What's this?

I'm sure there's a story here. vous voir demain paris
